STATE SYMBOLS OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

The state symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan are the Flag, the Emblem and the Anthem.

State Flag

The State Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a rectangular sky-blue cloth with a radiant sun in the center and a soaring eagle beneath it. Along the hoist runs a vertical stripe of national ornament. The sun, rays, eagle and ornament are golden. The blue color symbolizes a clear sky, peace and well-being; the sun stands for the source of life and energy; the eagle for independence, freedom and aspiration to the future.

State Emblem

The State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan depicts a shanyrak (the domed top of a yurt) on a blue background, from which uyks (supports) radiate in all directions like sun rays, framed by the wings of the mythical winged horses, tulpars. At the bottom is the inscription “QAZAQSTAN”. The shanyrak symbolizes the common home and unity of the people of Kazakhstan; the tulpars, the dream of a strong and prosperous state.

State Anthem

“Menin Qazaqstanym” (“My Kazakhstan”) is the State Anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Lyrics: Zhumeken Nazhimedenov, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Music: Shamshi Kaldayakov.
